Congresswoman Susie Lee Receives Endorsements from Southern Nevada AAPI Leaders

May 9, 2022

LAS VEGAS — Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) received the endorsements of 20 AAPI leaders across southern Nevada. These endorsements come several months before November’s general election, in which Congresswoman Lee’s seat will be critical in maintaining the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.

“Our culture and economy in southern Nevada is stronger and more vibrant because of the contributions of our AAPI neighbors. Our AAPI community deserves a representative in Congress who will champion its interests and continue to help it rebuild after a difficult couple of years,” said Congresswoman Lee. “I will always deliver for my AAPI constituents, and I am looking forward to continuing to work so that our AAPI community continues to thrive.”

“Congresswoman Lee’s support of the AAPI community has never wavered. Since she was elected to Congress and throughout the pandemic, she has stood beside us and fought for our interests in the face of discrimination and hate,” said Assemblywoman Rochelle Nguyen. “Her decisive actions in Washington saved our small businesses, eased the burden on our working families, and put us on the pathway to a swift recovery. I am pleased to endorse her and am eager to continue working with her to create a better future for all Nevadans.”

“I support Congresswoman Lee, not only as a fellow elected but as her constituent,” said Assemblywoman Brittney Miller. “Congresswoman Lee continues to be visible, accessible and responsive to our AAPI community. I’m proud to have her represent and champion our issues in D.C.”

“Congresswoman Lee has the back of southern Nevada’s AAPI community. She has always made it a priority to listen to our concerns and be a representative voice for us in Washington,” said Matt Kimball, labor leader. “Because of her, Asian-owned businesses are thriving and our local economy is bouncing back stronger than ever. I know that she will remain a staunch advocate for us throughout our recovery and beyond.”

“Congresswoman Lee knows what it takes for working families to get ahead. She has worked tirelessly in Congress to make sure all Nevadans have equal access to opportunities and that there are good-paying union jobs to help us provide for our families,” said Gloria Caoile. “Congresswoman Lee cares that we have access to affordable healthcare, that our schools are successful, and that our communities, including our AAPI community, are strong. I am proud to support her as she continues to fight for us in Washington.”

Since entering office, Congresswoman Lee has been a champion for southern Nevada’s AAPI community. When the pandemic hit, she took action to pass the CARES Act and the American Rescue plan to send direct relief to struggling families and keep the doors of AAPI-owned businesses open. As the AAPI community experienced, and continues to face, hate crimes and discrimination throughout the pandemic, Congresswoman Lee also co-sponsored the bipartisan COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act to strengthen the United States’ response to hate crimes during the pandemic and beyond.
