Congresswoman Susie Lee Statement on Primary Election Results
June 14, 2022
Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) issued the following statement regarding today’s primary election results:
“I am honored that southern Nevadans have placed their trust in me once more to continue to fight for our families, defend our democracy, and protect our fundamental rights. As our state endured the challenges of the pandemic, I stood up to get our struggling families the direct relief they needed, keep the doors of our small businesses open, save tens of thousands of jobs, and keep our economy and our families afloat. Now, I’m focused on investing in the future of Nevada, and that’s exactly why I fought to get a deal on the bipartisan infrastructure law, which will create thousands of jobs in our state and included my water recycling bill to keep water in Lake Mead for future generations. I’ve proven time and time again that I will always prioritize our families.
“Meanwhile, April Becker has already turned her back on southern Nevada families. She’s catering to Big Oil, Big Pharma, and the other corporations that are price gouging American families. She has proven that she will sell out our democracy if it serves her own selfish interests. Despite running for office in a state where voters have affirmed a woman’s right to an abortion, Becker has already accepted the endorsement of extremist groups that want to enact a nationwide abortion ban and make all abortions against the law with no exceptions. Becker is totally out of touch with southern Nevadans.”
“This election will be a referendum on our rights, on our democracy, and on our families’ futures. While my opponent sides with the corporations and the radicals overturning 50 years of rights for women, I’m working day in and day out to bring down costs for our families, strengthen our economy, and secure our most vital rights for generations to come. Since entering office I have continuously delivered for Nevada’s Third District, and while this race will be difficult, I know that voters will put their trust in me at the ballot box in November.”
