Nevada’s oldest Latino political organization
LAS VEGAS — Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced that she has received the endorsement of Hispanics in Politics, the oldest Latino political organization in Nevada. Founded in 1980, Hispanics in Politics works to increase awareness and participation in the democratic process as well as advocate for equal opportunity, equal access, and women’s rights.
“Susie Lee works to make life more affordable for hardworking families and uplift Latinos in Nevada by fighting for equal opportunities, good-paying jobs, our fundamental rights, and key investments in education to strengthen the next generation and our community’s future,” said Fernando Romero, President of Hispanics in Politics. “From its inception, Hispanics in Politics has centered its advocacy on these ideals, and we are proud to endorse Susie Lee for re-election. We can trust Susie to always stand up for Latinos across Nevada and for the future that our hardworking families are fighting for.”
“Southern Nevada is a vibrant and strong community because of the contributions of our Latino community. For 40 years, Hispanics in Politics has been a leading voice for the empowerment and rights of our Latino community. It is an honor to receive their support and endorsement,” said Susie Lee. “I look forward to continuing to work with Hispanics in Politics to strengthen our economy, create good-paying jobs, expand access to affordable health care, improve our public education system, and build an immigration system that creates a path to citizenship and protects our border.”
Susie knows that empowering Latinos in southern Nevada means investing in opportunities and our local economy. Last Congress, Susie helped negotiate and pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, which are bringing good-paying jobs to southern Nevada, cutting prescription drug costs, and investing in new technology and innovation industries. Susie is also fighting to pass legislation to tackle Nevada’s housing shortage, a commonsense solution that Republican Governor Joe Lombardo has endorsed. And, Susie is committed to finally fixing our broken immigration system to protect our border, create a path to citizenship, and process asylum claims more efficiently, so those who are fleeing violence and persecution can come here to live, work, pay taxes, and strengthen our economy.
Susie Lee represents Nevada’s Third Congressional District in Congress, where she has been named the most bipartisan Member of Congress and one of the most independent voices in Washington. Susie first ran for Congress because she grew up in a working family of ten, and she wanted the next generation to have the same kinds of opportunities she had growing up. That’s why Susie passed historic investments in our infrastructure, our economy, and in addressing the climate crisis. Before running for Congress, Susie spent her career leading organizations dedicated to improving the lives of Nevada’s most vulnerable children and families, including the leading statewide dropout prevention program, Communities in Schools of Nevada.
