Represents more than 4.4 million retirees, including 21,000 in Nevada
LAS VEGAS — Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) announced that she has earned the endorsement of the Alliance for Retired Americans, which represents more than 4.4 million retirees across the country and 21,000 members in Nevada.
Founded in 2001, the grassroots organization has grown into a nationwide movement with state alliances in 39 states. This endorsement comes on the heels of Lee earning the endorsement of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare, which gave Lee a 100% rating on their Legislative Scorecard for her work to protect Social Security and Medicare.
“Representative Lee has a proven record and has always fought for older Nevadans. Her votes in Congress have earned her a perfect 100% lifetime score in the Alliance’s annual Congressional Voting Record,” said Richard Fiesta, Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans. “We can count on her to strengthen and protect the Social Security and Medicare benefits we earned over a lifetime of work.”
“Nevada’s seniors have worked hard for their retirement, and I won’t let extremists take their benefits and healthcare away from them,” said Susie Lee. “As someone who grew up in a working family of ten, I will always fight to protect working Nevadans, and I am grateful for the endorsement of the Alliance for Retired Americans in this fight.”
While Lee is fighting to protect Nevadans’ retirement, her far-right opponent Drew Johnson is coming after seniors’ retirement — he wants to cut Social Security benefits by 30%, raise the retirement age, and repeal the Affordable Care Act. He even said that retired seniors are “socialist(s) suckling off the teat of gov’t.”
